Fire Department Planning

According to the fire safety laws of the individual federal states in Germany, municipalities are required to establish and maintain fire departments appropriate to local conditions.

To determine appropriate staffing and resource levels, a formal fire department demand plan must be prepared and updated regularly. In most federal states (e.g., North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse), this planning process is legally mandated. It outlines requirements for personnel, training, equipment, and infrastructure — and also takes into account opportunities for inter-municipal cooperation.
